Sidney student Paolo Heywood wins the University of Manchester's prestigious Emrys Peters Essay Prize.

Paolo was a Sidney undergraduate and is now a first year PhD student in the Department of Social Anthropology.  Paolo was one of two first prize winners, for his essay "Whose Wor(l)d is it Anyway? Ontology in Philosophy and Anthropologyā€¯.  It will also be published in Cambridge Anthropology in spring 2012.  The other winner was Alexander Parkinson of the University of Manchester,

The Emrys Peters Essay Prize is awarded for the best 9,000 word essay on "an anthropological topic which falls within any area of Social Anthropology".  The prize was founded following a gift from Mrs Stella Peters in memory of her husband, Professor Emrys Lloyd Peters, who taught at the University of Manchester between 1955 and 1984.
