Sidney RUFC defend the Wallace-Hadrill Shield.

Sidney RUFC have triumphed in a closely-fought contest against our sister College St. John's, Oxford.  Captain Ed Linford writes:

"Saturday 19th November saw the third annual fixture of Sidney Sussex College RUFC versus St. John's College Oxford. The two teams were competing for the Wallace-Hadrill Shield, named after the current Master of Sidney Sussex, Professor Andrew Wallace-Hadrill, who also studied at St. John's College Oxford.

There were clear skies as the players took to the field for what would be a very competitive match. Despite St. John's leading at half time the Sidney team fought back to win 14-12.

This match is always a highlight of the season for the rugby team and we look forward to next year when we defend the shield in Oxford."
