M.B. Grabowski Symposium to feature lecture on the Army of General Anders.

Distinguished historian Professor Norman Davies will give a public lecture in Sidney Sussex on 27 October at 6.30pm.

Professor Davies will examine the "Anders' Army", which was formed in 1941-2 from Polish soldiers who had been exiled from occupied Poland to Siberia and the Soviet Far East at the beginning of the war. The soldiers - some of whom were accompanied by their families - made the journey from the Soviet Union through Central Asia to Palestine, whence many went on to fight with allied forces in Italy and elsewhere.

The inaugural M. B. Grabowski Symposium is supported by Sidney Sussex College, the Department of Slavonic Studies and the M.B. Grabowski Fund.  It will be held in the Mong Hall.
