Sidney historian weighs in on 'Corbyn, Sanders and the populist surge'

Mellon Professor of American History and Fellow of Sidney Sussex Gary Gerstle has penned an article for the New Statesman identifying new forces shaping politics on the left in the United States and United Kingdom.

While the UK voters' dramatic decision to vote to leave the European Union and the remarkable race for the White House in the United States both reflect challenges to an older neoliberal political and economic consensus, Professor Gerstle argues that they also present difficulties to traditional parties of the left.
