Professor Dame Ann Dowling has written an article for the BBC News website exploring how to encourage more women to pursue careers in engineering.

Writing in her capacity as President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Professor Dowling looks back at her career path and considers what steps might be taken - in schools and industry - to encourage more women to become engineers. Breaking down unhelpful stereotypes and publicising the breadth of modern engineering, she suggests, will be one important way for the UK to meet a projected skills gap.
