Personal Biography

Ljiljana obtained International Baccalaureate  from United World College of the Adriatic (Italy), studied chemistry at the University of Zagreb and then went on to explore advanced biospectroscopy (PhD at the Universtiy of Strathclyde, Glasgow) and DNA structuring and artificial enzymes (postdoc at Technical University of Dortmund). Following these research stays, she set up her own group at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where she stayed till 2014, after which she joined Dept. of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology as a Lecturer in BioNano Engineering.

She works on light triggered chemical reactions and devices, bio-nano hybrid materials for tissue engineering, DNA vaccines and, in her spare time, on the issue of turning the molecules into chocolates (Molecular Chocolates) and failed experiments into artistic installations.
