Useful Information

Non-residential meetings and events can be held throughout the year.

Lunches, dinners and catered functions are offered by our excellent kitchens throughout the year.

Weddings can only be held in College outside the University terms.

Residential Conferences are offered during the University vacations in order that the College can provide a first-class conference service.

Due to the nature of our sixteenth-century buildings, we are always taking steps to improve accessibility around the College grounds. Many of our dining and meeting rooms are on ground level and our modern accommodation has lift access. Please feel free to contact us for more details.

Event Services

Whilst we do not recommend any suppliers directly and none are affiliated with the college, our Suppliers List will give you some starting points. Another helpful list is available through Meet Cambridge.

Ethical Statement

Business Ethics

We believe that it is important for our conference guests and the College to understand clearly from the outset the responsibilities of each party. Our Terms and Conditions and Booking Forms set out where these responsibilities lie.

In particular, we ask that final numbers be confirmed at least two working days prior to the event to ensure that all details are finalised and therefore that your event is run as efficiently and problem-free as possible.

We are happy to discuss any aspect of our Terms and Conditions with you so that bookings are entered into on terms agreed by both parties.

Food Ethics

Sidney Sussex College endeavours to conserve the environment and promote sustainability, in addition to protecting the welfare of local suppliers. To this end, our food ethics policy states that the College uses seasonal, organic and free-range produce wherever possible and deals with local suppliers.

The College supports suppliers who provide services and materials that actively pursue and encourage the efficiency with which finite resources (energy, water & raw materials) are used and the controlled release of carbon emissions are minimised.

The College ensures the correct preparation, cooking and service of food to minimise the environmental impact of its operation.

Green Ethics

There is an active Environmental Committee in the College focused on reducing our carbon footprint and improving recycling. The College has its own recycling system in place, including collection bins for cans, plastic, glass, paper, cardboard, batteries, cartridges and old mobile phones. Collections bins are located throughout College, and Fellows and staff, conference guests and students are actively encouraged to make use of them.
