Dining Rooms

The College has several dining rooms that offer an atmospheric setting for every occasion, from intimate dinners for 10 to grand banquets for 126. Below is a list of our dining rooms along with their capacity.

College Hall

Seated Capacity: 110, or 126 including balcony

The rococo College Hall is a grand dining space for groups of up to 126. The interior was designed during the mid-eighteenth century by Caius Fellow James Burrough in an Italian Palladian style. The walls are lined now with portraits of past Masters.

Knox-Shaw Room

Seated Capacity: 35

The Knox-Shaw Room is an ideal venue for catered events in every season. With wooden panelling, open fires and red hues, it provides a warming atmosphere for winter events. For the summer, it boasts views of the Fellows Lawn and easy access to the Cloister Court Garden. It can be used for standing receptions, afternoon teas and hot or cold finger and fork buffets.

Old Library

Seated Capacity: 32

The Old Library is no longer lined with bookshelves, but the wooden panelling and stained glass windows retain a historic feel. It now provides an intimate environment for meetings, receptions and dinners, in the heart of the College, with views over Chapel Court.

Old Parlour

Seated Capacity: 15

The Old Parlour can be used as an overflow for the College Hall, Hall, or on its own an intimate dining space.

William Mong Hall

Seated Capacity: 60

The William Mong Hall, is the largest meeting space in the College. This flexible flat-floored room has inbuilt AV technology and was designed to be multipurpose: it can be used for lectures, conferences, dinners and receptions. It is housed in the Mong Building, which also includes a small garden, a foyer, a reception area with in-built coat rail, and separate toilet facilities.


The high-quality food that we serve reflects the achievements of our Chefs and Service Staff who have won the University Culinary Competition numerous times.
