Professor María Noriega-Sánchez, Professor of Spanish and Translation Studies, Director of Studies and Governing Body Fellow at Sidney Sussex College, has been awarded a 2026 Pilkington Prize for excellence in teaching at the University of Cambridge.
Established by Sir Alastair Pilkington, the Pilkington Prizes are among the University’s most prestigious honours for teaching, recognising educators whose work sets the standard for excellence across Cambridge.
María’s teaching in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics has been widely recognised for its innovation and impact. Her work has helped shape curriculum design and broaden assessment approaches, while thoughtfully integrating technology with strong pedagogical practice. Through her teaching, students are encouraged to engage deeply with language and culture, developing both linguistic confidence and global perspective.
