Prestigious appointments for two former Sidney classicists

Prestigious appointments for two former Sidney classicists.

Professor John Bennet (Sidney Sussex 1976) has been appointed as the next Director of the British School at Athens (BSA). He will take up his appointment on 1 October 2015. The BSA is part of the British Academy's network of Sponsored Institutes and Societies, which sustains and supports British research overseas. An undergraduate, research student and Junior Research Fellow in Classics at Sidney Sussex, John has taught at the Universities of Wisconsin-Madison, Oxford and Sheffield, where since 2004 he has been Professor of Aegean Archaeology. We wish him and his wife Deborah all the very best for a successful Directorship in Athens!

John will succeed the current Director, Professor Catherine Morgan, former David Thomson Senior Research Fellow at Sidney Sussex, whom we also wish to congratulate warmly for her recent election to a Senior Research Fellowship at All Souls College, Oxford.
