Professor Dame Ann Dowling elected as the first female President of the Royal Academy of Engineering

Sidney Professor becomes the Academy's first woman President.

Acoustics and combustion expert Professor Dame Ann Dowling has been elected as President of the Royal Academy of Engineering.  Professor Dowling, who is also currently head of the Department of Engineering, becomes the first woman to head the Academy, and takes over as President from Professor Sir John Parker.
