Honorary Fellow appointed as Chancellor of the University of Birmingham

Sidney is delighted to congratulate alumnus Lord Karan Bilimoria on his appointment as the seventh Chancellor of the University of Birmingham.

He follows in the footsteps of the Right Honorable Joseph Chamberlain and the Right Honorable Anthony Eden, the Earl of Avon, and succeeds Sir Dominic Cadbury.

Lord Bilimoria read Law at Sidney, graduating in 1988. He went on to found Cobra beer. He is also the founding Chairman of the UK India Business Council. He was appointed as Crossbench peer in 2006 and in 2007 was elected as an Honorary Fellow of Sidney Sussex College.

On taking up the post in July, Lord Bilimoria will become the seventh Chancellor of the University of Birmingham.
