Judge Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade made Honorary Fellow

Judge Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade, member of the International Court of Justice since 2009 and recently elected President of the Latin American Society of International Law, has been made an Honorary Fellow of Sidney Sussex.

Judge Cançado Trindade did his LLM (International Law) and his PhD at Sidney (1973 and 1977 respectively). His PhD (“Developments in the Rule of Exhaustion of Local Remedies in International Law”) was awarded the Yorke Prize, awarded by the Faculty of Law for theses of distinction. The College was delighted to be able to welcome the Judge to dinner following his election in October.
