The Stephenson Society is a joint engineering society between Sidney Sussex and Newnham College, and is one of the oldest of its kind.
All new undergraduate Engineering students automatically join the society, which also includes postgraduates, Fellows, and alumni of the College.
The first event of the year is an icebreaker involving a fun engineering challenge. Last year's competition involved seeing who could build the longest bridge out of paper, straws, cardboard, and tape.
The society meets fortnightly for a talk from guest speakers of various engineering backgrounds, followed by an optional dinner.
Notable speakers from the last series of talks include representatives from Airbus and IBM.
