Sidney Sussex College Music Society (SSCMS) exists for the benefit and musical enrichment of all Sidney members.
We are dedicated to promoting the highest standards of music in all genres at Sidney Sussex College.
Anyone is welcome to our events (most of which are free), which have ranged from large-scale orchestral and choral concerts to intimate late-night performances in our beautiful Chapel to high-energy A Capella sing-offs!
Sidney is small but has a very healthy level of thriving musical talent! For those who fancy getting involved in some low-key but seriously fun singing, there is a student-run non-auditioning pop choir called Sidney Singers, known for enthusiastic renditions of classic bangers (think ABBA etc).
Sidney was also the birthplace of Cambridge's finest all-female A Capella group, Notorious (formerly the Sidney SusSex Pistols), which is going from strength to strength having now expanded to become a University-wide group.
As a society we also exist to assist Sidney members (and prospective students/offer-holders!) on all things musical in any way we can. This might include suggesting suitable ensembles for their interests, providing information about practice facilities, publicising musical opportunities, helping to organise a musical event they might want to put on/perform in, or anything else we can help with.
