Triennial Engineering Dinner

Triennial Engineering Dinner

The sixth Triennial Engineers' Dinner will be held in College on Saturday 23 February 2019. All present and former Fellows, postgraduate and undergraduate students who are or were involved with Engineering whilst studying at Sidney will be welcome to attend this event. In addition, this includes all those who read Mechanical Sciences or Electrical Sciences as undergraduates, as well as those who read or are reading Engineering or Chemical Engineering. At the Engineering Dinner in 2016, Hall was full and a most enjoyable evening was had by all. Old friendships were renewed and new contacts across the years were made on that convivial occasion.
We are delighted to announce that the new Prince Philip Professor of Technology, Professor George Malliaras, will be giving a pre-dinner talk on his current research entitled “Organic Electronics for Interfacing with the Brain”. Professor Malliaras’ research interests include the design and validation of implantable and cutaneous devices to interface with the brain, in order to understand and treat neurological disorders. His research interests also include the realisation of electronic devices and circuits that mimic some of the computational features of the brain. Professor Millearas’ talk on a new and rapidly evolving branch of engineering science will be concise, leaving sufficient time for questions and discussion. It promises to be a fascinating occasion.
We are also pleased to welcome our distinguished alumna, Ms Carol Vorderman MBE back to Sidney Sussex. Carol will speak at dinner.
We very much hope that you will be able to attend the Triennial Engineering Dinner in 2019. Let us fill the Hall once again and enjoy a special evening together!

Tickets are £60 per person.
