Decade Reunion Lunch 2017 - 1959 and before

For matric years 1959 and before

On behalf of the College, I am delighted to invite you to a reunion lunch at Sidney on Sunday 24 September 2017 from 11.15am to 3.30pm.

The reunion lunch will be a relaxed affair and we are delighted that it will begin with a talk on ‘Extreme Astrophysics’ from a recent alumnus of the College, Dr Chris Crowe (2008). Having completed a PhD at Cambridge’s Institute of Astronomy, Chris now works at Harrow School, where he is in charge of the Rayleigh Observatory. He regularly appears as a Royal Astronomical Society guest speaker on Cunard’s flagship cruise liner, the Queen Mary 2.

Chris’s lecture, entitled ‘We are all made of stars’ will be a vivid exploration of the most energetic phenomena in the Universe from supernovae to the immensely powerful black holes that power the centre of almost every galaxy. With the aid of multimedia technology, Chris will endeavour to show you what it would be like to take a trip inside a black hole and through the centre of a star like the Sun in what promises to be an engaging and exciting presentation.

The afternoon will also provide you with the opportunity to catch up with friends, especially those you may have lost touch with, to meet other alumni with at least one thing in common, a shared experience of Sidney, and to tour the College to take in the recent developments that have been made possible by the support of our alumni and friends.

Tickets are priced at £20 per person.

The closing date for booking is Friday 8 September 2017.

Even if you cannot come back on this occasion, I would urge you to go to the online booking page in any event to update your contact details and provide us with a "where are they now" mini-autobiography.

I really do hope that you will be able to join us for this reunion and I look forward to seeing you back at Sidney in September.
