John Thornely Lecture 18 April 2016


The twelfth Annual John Thornely Lecture will be held on Monday 18 April 2016, at 6.45pm, at the offices of Slaughter and May, One Bunhill Row, London EC1Y 8YY.


Kenneth Hamer will be speaking on The Boundaries of Professional Misconduct in the Legal and Health Care Professions”.


Kenneth Hamer is a practising Barrister at Henderson Chambers and a Recorder of the Crown Court. He is a Legal Assessor/Legal Adviser to the General Medical Council, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the General Dental Council, a member of the prosecuting panel of the Bar Standards Board and a former Chairman of the Appeal Committee of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He represents regulators and individuals in disciplinary cases as well as lecturing and advising on fitness to practise procedures and processes. He is the author of Professional Conduct Casebook published by Oxford University Press (23 June 2015), and joint editor of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers’ Quarterly Bulletin.   


The lecture will be preceded, at 5:45 pm, by the annual meeting of the Thornely Society, which all Thornely Society Members and Founding Members are welcome to attend.


Refreshments will be available before the Lecture from 5.30 pm and a reception will take place after the Lecture. Sidney Sussex College and the Thornely Society are extremely grateful to Slaughter and May for generously hosting this event.
