Personal Biography

Christopher Hill is Emeritus Professor of International Relations, and a member of the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS). From 1974-2004 he taught in the Department of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he was the Montague Burton Professor from 1991.

He has published widely in the areas of foreign policy analysis, European politics and general international relations. He is a past Chair of the British International Studies Association, and was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2007. He was a member of the RAE2008 Panel for Politics and International Studies.

His current research project is a comparison of British and French foreign policies since the end of the Cold War, as they are Europe's only permanent members of the UN Security Council, with pretensions still to a global role.
