I joined Sidney in October 2010 and was previously librarian at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy for two years. I also worked at the Department of Engineering and the Isaac Newton Institute. Before that I was in public libraries for many years, principally those at Saffron Walden and Harlow. At various times I had special responsibilities for children’s libraries, access for people with disabilities, stock acquisition and reading activities for people recovering from mental ill health.

I studied Classics at Pembroke College, Oxford, and took a postgraduate diploma in Library and Information Studies at Ealing College of Higher Education. Outside work I enjoy Aikido, English and American folk dancing, and environmental conservation.

I am responsible for provision of library and information services in the College. This includes acquiring books, DVDs and other stock; ensuring the library has a pleasant and welcoming environment; maintaining order; answering enquiries and generally helping College members with their information needs. I can help you to use our library, and to discover other libraries and resources, whether printed or electronic. Recommendations for purchase are always welcome. The library thrives on enquiries from, and interaction with, its users. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
