Sidney and the Great War

'It is difficult for anyone who has not been in residence during the past year to appreciate the effects of the War on the life of the University. But the change which it has produced in College life is even more marked, and Sidney has probably been affected as much as any College.'

Sidney Sussex Annual, 1915

To mark the centenary of the Great War we are developing an online portrait of the College between 1914 and 1918. Our knowledge of how the lives of members, and indeed the College as an institution, were shaped by the War is incomplete. We hope to expand these pages with profiles of the many ways that members contributed to and were affected by the War, and explain more about how the College was profoundly changed by those events.

In depth articles on facets of the war.

We are developing an image gallery featuring material from our archives as we discover more about our members' experiences of the War.

Remembering those who died.

We would like to hear from you if you have any information about connections between Sidney Sussex and the War.
