We are looking forward to welcoming all of our current and new students to Sidney ahead of the 2019/20 academic year.

Sidney is well-known across the Collegiate University for having a friendly and close-knit community, and we are delighted that all of our new incoming arrivals will soon be a part of it.

If you are a Fresher, either graduate or undergraduate, and if you are unsure at any stage about what to do or where to go on arrival, please do get in touch with the Tutorial Office (if you are an undergraduate) or the Graduate Office - they will be very happy to help! Both offices are located on the ground floor of B staircase in Hall Court, and are typically open between 9-5pm on weekdays.

SSCSU (Sidney Sussex College Students' Union) will also be on hand to welcome our new intake.

Georgina Gledhill is the current JCR President at Sidney, and here she explains more about what SSCSU is and how they are here to help:

"Hello 2019 Sidneyites!

Here's how SSCSU (Sidney Sussex Students' Union) can help quell those first term nerves and much more!

SSCSU comprises of around 25 officers at any one time, from all different year groups, who are democratically elected by the undergraduate student body at two set points during the year. All 25 officers share the goal of making Sidney a better place for undergraduates to live, but officers usually work towards the main goal of the Student Union in relation to their roles.

For example, we have 'liberation' officers (these are Women's and Non-Binary Officer, BME Officer, and LGBT+ Officer), so these officers often undertake work to make usually marginalised groups feel like they have space in Sidney and the University.

We also have two wonderful welfare officers that are around to look after wellbeing, in all shapes and sizes! Between the full committee of SSCSU, we try to cover all aspects of student life and because we're democratically elected, you can always suggest things for us to advocate for and work towards.

SSCSU is literally the one stop shop for anything that involves students and Sidney - we have you covered whether you need a cup of tea and a chat with one of us or want to change the face of Sidney."
