Sidney architect on natural building materials

Fellow in Architecure Dr Michael Ramage is currently part of an inter-disciplinary project examining the potential large-scale uses for natural building materials. Earlier in the year the team presented a report to the Mayor of London that modelled an 80 storey towerblock for London from wood-based rather than concrete materials.

The need for new, more efficient, building materials means the team's potential impact is significant; and their work continues to attract attention, most recently from The Economist, which this week examined the feasibility of using wood-based products in the construction of large-scale buildings.
