Tree works in Master's Garden

Weeping ash felled

In recent weeks tree surgeons have removed two trees in the Master’s Garden. These include a diseased robinia, which had experienced significant dieback in recent years. More dramatically for the look of the garden, the weeping ash tree that has stood in the middle of the lawn, probably for over one hundred years, also needed to be removed due to dramatic hollowing to its trunk.

The stature of the ash, coupled with the colourful and contrasting planting of Head Gardener Trevor Rees and his team, made it a popular set-piece feature in the garden.
