Work gets underway on new catering facility
Sidney Sussex has begun an ambitious development project to replace its kitchens and create exciting new facilities that will benefit the whole College community.
At present the College's main kitchen occupies part of the ground floor of the historic Master's Lodge range. This will be relocated underground in the Master's Garden, enabling the space to be transformed into a multi-purpose servery and function room more appropriate for its location in the historic heart of the College.
As well as providing a much needed upgrade to the working environment of our award-winning kitchen team, the completed facilities will allow for an extended evening cafeteria service during term time and catering for a more diverse range of events throughout the year.
The first phase of the project has included an archaeological investigation of the construction area, and the preparation of a compound for site offices.
