As part of Sidney’s commitment to outreach, we are excited to announce the College will be hosting an ‘Admissions Roadshow’ in Staffordshire on Tuesday 18 September and Wednesday 19 September.

This will be an extension of our Lancashire Roadshow which, in collaboration with Pembroke and Murray Edwards, has been running successfully for a number of years.

The Staffordshire Roadshow will take place at Stafford College on the 18th September and Newcastle-under-Lyme College on the 19th. It is aimed at Year 13 students interested in applying to Cambridge, who are currently attending state-school in the West Midlands.

Students attending the event will have the chance to hear from Dr. Catherine Sumnall, the Admissions Director at Sidney Sussex, regarding her advice on submitting a competitive application to the University of Cambridge. They will also have the opportunity to attend subject-specific interview guidance sessions hosted by Sidney’s fellows and current PhD students.

These workshops will be separated into four subject strands, in order to provide the most detailed guidance possible. The strands will be arts & humanities, social sciences, physical sciences and maths and biological sciences and medicine. Each strand will be led by a Sidney fellow or PhD student, an expert in their subject, who will advise students on how best to prepare for the admissions assessments and the university interview, as well as what to expect on the day. There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask any questions students may have, prior to submitting their application in October, throughout the event.

The Staffordshire Roadshow is a new initiative introduced by Sidney, with the goal being to encourage and prepare more academically-able students to make competitive applications to top universities, including the University of Cambridge.
