Sidney Sussex has provided space for a new Cycling Response Unit
The East of England Ambulance Service is currently piloting using cycle paramedics to speed up response times to emergencies in and around the city centre. And the Cycling Response Unit's paramedics have become a regular fixture in Sidney as the College has provided space for the team to use between call-outs.
The scheme has been covered by the BBC and Cambridge Evening News. In the last week the University website has also interviewed Head Porter Colin Maxted and paramedic Oliver Robinson. Oliver explains, “Sidney Sussex College has been really helpful and being so central it ensures we can attend to a patient at any part of the densely packed city centre in a few minutes”.
The scheme is currently being trialled for three months, providing support between 8am and 6pm. If it is successful it could also be extended to cover evenings.
