Third-year Archaeology undergraduate Ethan Lees has been elected to the leading position of General-Secretary for the United Nations Association Youth Platform of the United Kingdom (UNA-YP).

The UNA-YP is a national organisation with links to the United Nations Association UK (UNA-UK) and The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), and is dedicated to providing the United Kingdom with its first youth delegation at the United Nations and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The UNA-YP coordinates and oversees every United Nations Association in the country and works towards bringing in speakers, hosting events, conferences and Model UN events throughout the country.

Ethan is the first democratically elected General Secretary. Speaking about what he hopes to add to the role, Ethan noted, "I want to do my best to make the United Nations everything it entails: peace, welfare, innovation, respect for all cultures and the rights of all peoples accessible to young people. For too long the youth has been denied its voice in world affairs - that’s something I want to change".

Well done Ethan!
