Professor Lindsay Greer awarded honorary doctorate by prestigious Polish institution.

Sidney Fellow in Materials Science Professor Lindsay Greer has been awarded an honorary degree by AGH University of Science and Technology.  Professor Greer, who is a former head of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy in Cambridge, travelled to Krakow to receive his doctorate from the nearly one hundred year old institution.

Professor Greer's research examines microstructural kinetics, or how materials change their structures.  Addressing the Academy in Krakow, Professor explained how his expertise in laboratory-based research on metallic glasses led him to collaborate with Polish colleagues to examine the larger scale industrial processes of grain refinement and energy saving in foundry practice.  This research has now produced some twenty jointly-authored publications.
