The work of two Sidney Fellows is making headlines this week:

Dr Abir Al-Tabbaa, Reader in Geotechnical Engineering at the Department of Engineering, is coordinating a major project to decontaminate brownfield land in the UK, so that it can be used for housing and development. The use of previously contaminated land for housing could help to preserve the UK's protected greenfield areas.

The Economist features a study by Behavioural Econologist, Dr Claire Spottiswoode, originally published in the journal "Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology," on the effects of co-operative breeding on the immune systems of wild birds. Dr Spottiswoode is the John & Delia Agar Research Fellow at Sidney Sussex.
