Professor Lindsay Greer describes research into the changes memory materials undergo when heated.

Collaborative research between scientists at the Universities of Pardubice, Southampton and the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at Cambridge has been published in Nature Materials.  The research was led by Lindsay Greer, who is Fellow in Natural Sciences at Sidney Sussex.  As Profesor Greer explains to The Engineer, the research sheds new light into the effect of heating on the behaviour of memory materials that are used in electronic equipment such as smartphones.
