Acting Master and Fellow in Engineering Richard Penty has been elected as a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering.

The Academy was founded in 1976 and 'promotes the engineering and technological welfare of the country'. 59 new Fellows were elected at the Academy's AGM. The Academy noted that Professor Penty's 'innovative work has led directly to products using photonics technology that have contributed to billion dollar markets'.
