Recent awards for College catering team.

Sidney's catering team recently took a break from feeding hungry students to compete in a series of prestigious culinary competitions. The University of Cambridge Culinary Competition pitted Sidney chefs and catering staff against the best of the other Colleges in 16 classes.

Keith Willox the Domestic Bursar said: 'This year's event was bigger and better than ever and I was delighted to see the small team from Sidney take on and beat some of the larger Colleges. There were some excellent performances and the Sidney team won no less than 6 medals and 2 certificates of merit. The star performance came from one of the youngest chefs, Ashley Irvine who won a Gold Medal and best in class in his event’.

Earlier in term Sidney Chef, Robert Blackwell, won a medal at the Hotelympia National Culinary Competition held at the NEC, Birmingham.  Robert was competing against some of the top chefs from the UK’s best hotels and restaurants.  He presented a selection of hand-made tea cakes that are now a regular feature on Sidney’s menus.
