Five Sidney undergraduates - Chloe Allenby, Georgina Gledhill, Iris Hall, Tiggy McDowell and Shirley Ngan – joined together in true ‘Sidney Spirit’ style to lead the College to triumph in this year’s intercollegiate cheerleading competition (Cuppers).

Despite four of the students having little experience in the art of cheer, they pulled together to put on a display of true sporting prowess and team work.

Tiggy McDowell, a member of Sidney Spirit, commented, “It was a whirlwind experience, with the team forming itself only two hours before performing the routine of jumps, stunts, and synchrony”.

It was a great day for Sidney with a separate group of Sidneyites - Rhian Armstrong, Mitch Hubner, Alfie Denness, and Alia Khalid - scooping second place. They were joined by Helen White at Emmanuel College.

It was a perfect display of self-efficacy, cooperation and skill, and a microcosm of the talent amongst Sidney students. Go Sidney!
