Hugh Rowlands, Sidney’s Senior Organ Scholar, has recently been awarded the Fellowship Diploma of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO).

The FRCO is recognised internationally as the most prestigious qualification for organists. The examination is made up of many different elements, including solo playing, keyboard tests, and written papers, which examine a variety of musical and analytical techniques. Having been awarded the Associate of the Royal College of Organists (ARCO) in 2020, the completion of the FRCO this year marks another step towards a career as an organist.

Reflecting on this achievement, Hugh says, ‘I am delighted to have successfully completed this qualification. In particular I would like to thank the College for financially supporting this endeavour. I would also like to thank David Skinner (Director of Music) for his support, and my organ teacher, James McVinnie, for his guidance.’
