Research Fellow wins Pianist's Prize at the inaugural Grange Festival

This major new competition attracted more than 150 competitors from 28 countries, who competed through numerous rounds to reach the final on 24 September 2017. The competition awards prizes to three singers and one, worth £2000, to the most outstanding pianist, which Ceri won for her performance in collaboration with baritone Dominic Sedgwick (a Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, with whom she appeared in recital at Sidney in May ahead of their performance at the Wigmore Hall).

Ceri’s research -- closely bound up with her work as a performer -- is concerned with late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century British music and musical culture, and with the European art song tradition. She is particularly interested in music and words, music and landscape, and in music's role within identity formations. Her JRF project is a study of early twentieth-century British art song and art song performance.
