Praise for Professor Gary Gerstle’s new book.

With the presidential campaign in full swing, Mellon Professor of American History Gary Gerstle takes a timely look at the development of government in the United States in his new book Liberty and Coercion: The paradox of American government from the founding to the present.  In a recent review in the Financial Times Professor Desmond King describes Gerstle’s book as ‘a towering achievement, bristling with stimulating arguments and historical erudition’.

Professor's book is published by Princeton University Press. For more information about Desmond King's review please visit the Financial Times website (please note a subscription may be required).
