ERC grant for Sidney Professor

Support for Rodolphe Sepulchre’s research.

Fellow in Engineering Professor Rodolphe Sepulchre has been awarded €2.5 million by the European Research Council (ERC) to develop his research.  Professor Sepulchre is investigating whether it is possible to develop artificial systems that can process signals at different resolutions.  Building on the example of the way the brain quickly processes information at very different scales and across different frequencies, his particular approach is to focus on how the use of so-called switchlets might improve the functioning of artificial systems.

The research, which is profiled in more detail on the Department of Engineering website, will thus provide an important connection between research in engineering and neuroscience.
