‘I’m really excited and proud to be taking on the new role of Deputy Senior Tutor.

‘As a former undergraduate and postgraduate at Sidney I know what we do to support our students is distinctive.  This is true when they join us, as they study with us and when they leave us. I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic staff and students here to enhance that distinctiveness. I can’t wait to get started!’

Dr Sumnall completed her doctorate in 2011. She has been Sidney’s Admissions Director since 2016, and Director of Studies in Geography since 2017.

The Deputy Senior Tutor will work closely with the Senior Tutor to manage the Tutorial team and oversee development of the College’s academic strategy.

Max Beber, Senior Tutor, said: ‘The creation of the post of Deputy Senior Tutor is the latest major investment, taking Sidney’s educational and pastoral provision to a higher level.

‘With a formidable track record of achievement across several key areas, and a strong vision for our student personal development, or “inreach”, strategy, Catherine stood out within a very competitive field of applicants for the post.

‘She will hit the ground running, and we all look forward to working together even more closely as we prepare for the new academic year.’
