Earlier this year, as part of LGBT+ history month, Sidney Sussex College Music Society (SSCMS) hosted an exciting performance of James McCarthy’s oratorio Codebreaker.

The performance took place on Saturday 9 February 2019 and was organised by the society’s Vice President, Madeline Bryan.

The oratorio, for orchestra and choir, told the story of the life and death of Alan Turing and included poetry by Wilfred Owen and Sara Teasdale.

The concert was the most successful in SSCMS history, with sold out tickets and over 1,000 people clicking ‘interested’ on Facebook.

The event raised a fantastic £674.38 for the LGBT+ mental health charity MindOut, who work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ communities and to make mental health a community concert.

Well done to Madeline, SSCMS, and all who attended for contributing towards such a successful and worthwhile event.
