Professor Andrew Wallace-Hadrill talks about new BBC series.

Fellow in Classics Professor Andrew Wallace-Hadrill has been interviewed by the BBC World Service's Weekend programme about his forthcoming series Building the Ancient City: Athens and Rome.  From ancient Athens, the birthplace of democracy, to ancient Rome, an extraordinary city of one million people, the programmes profile two of the period's most magnificent cities, whose legacies endure not only in built form but in the very ideas people have about cities today.

You can listen again to the Weekend interview by following the link to the BBC World Service (starting after approximately 45 minutes).

Building the Ancient City begins on Thursday 20th August at 8pm on BBC Two and will be available on the BBC iPlayer after broadcast.
