Professor Christopher Page awarded Nicholas Bessaraboff Prize 

Fellow in English Professor Christopher Page has been awarded the Nicholas Bessaraboff Prize by the American Musical Instrument Society for his book The Guitar in Tudor England: A Social and Musical History, which was published in 2015 by Cambridge University Press. 

The prize is named after Nicholas Bessaraboff, who helped lay the foundations of modern scientific study of musical instruments with his monumental catalogue Ancient European Musical Instruments (1941).  It is awarded annually to the best book that further's the Society's ambition "to promote the understanding of all aspects of the history, design, construction, and usage of musical instruments in all cultures and from all periods".
