Seminars in modern Irish history

Sidney hosts seminar series

This term three seminars in modern Irish history will be held in Sidney Sussex.  Organised by a team including Sidney Sussex Fellow in History Professor Eugenio Biagini, this term's meetings are:

  • 12 October, Fintan O'Toole (Irish Times), 'Faust and Pfizer: The political consequences of Ireland's alliance with transitional capital since 1958'
  • 2 November, 1916 Irish Rebellion RTE/PBS/BBC documentary with panel discussion including Briona Nic Dhiarmada and Tom Bartlett
  • 9 November, Lindsey Earner-Byrne (University College Dublin), 'Artefacts of poverty: Letters of the Irish Catholic poor, 1920-40'

Seminars will be held at 5pm in Chapel Court Seminar Room 2.  An external event of related interest, 'Parnell and his Ireland', will also be held at Magdalene College on the 25th and 26th of November.
