New Website for Sidney

The 30th August 2007 marks an important day in the history of Sidney Sussex College's website as it sees the launch of a new edition of a new version that should improve both quality, quantity and navigability of its content.

It was back in 2001 that the current Website Editor, Dr Andrew Flewitt, was asked to draw together what had originally grown up as a 'collection of webpages' into a coordinated website. This was launched over six years ago, and although the content has changed in that time, and a few new 'licks of paint' applied, the structure had essentially remained unaltered.

Since then, the Web has grown greatly, and is now one of the primary means by which the College first contacts prospective students, keeps current students up-to-date with information, and remains in contact with its Alumni throughout the world.

It was felt, therefore, that the time had come to review the infomation that our website provided and how this information was displayed. To help us in this, we commissioned a local company, Black Pig, to devise a new website design and structure. This means that it should now be far clearer for readers to find the information that they are looking for. Another major advance is that the editing of the webpages now takes place in the various College Departments, such as the Library and Tutorial Offices, rather than being made by a single Editor. This should ensure that content is more relevant and up-to-date.

We hope that you will enjoy reading the new site and that you will find it somewhere that you will want to regularly visit - whatever your relationship with the College.
