As an alumnus of both the university and of Sidney Sussex there are several ways you can continue to satisfy your craving for knowledge.
Access to Journals:
Everybody who has matriculated at the university gets lifelong access to JSTOR's huge wealth of journal articles and other academic materials. For more information on this, do feel free to consult the University's page on this. Otherwise you can log in to JSTOR by clicking the image above.
All alumni are able to access the main University Library for free. To find out more about using the UL and the application process for getting your reader’s card, please visit the University Library admissions web page. (The reader’s card is different to your CAMCard.)
Richard Powell Library:
We are delighted to welcome alumni with scholarly interests back to Cambridge and to Sidney Sussex. Unfortunately, due to constraints on space in the Richard Powell Library, use of the Library requires prior arrangement with the Librarian.
The Library aims to maintain a comfortable and supportive environment for study, with access to a substantial range of textbooks and electronic resources, open to all Members of College. The library is usually staffed between 8:30am-1pm and 2pm-5pm, Monday to Friday throughout term and vacation. Full details on the library can be found here.
The College's archives and special collections are housed in the Muniment Room, at the end of South Court nearest Garden Court. The collection is managed by Nicholas Rogers. Contained within are some rare manuscripts and early printed books, which you are more than welcome to visit as an alumnus. Remember however that all items in the Muniment Room can only be consulted by prior arrangement with the archivist.
