I studied both Pre-clinical and Clinical Medicine in Cambridge, before staring my clinical career in Cambridge, Norwich, Southampton and St George's Hospital, London. I returned to Cambridge for my PhD studying the vascular pathogenicity of Lipoprotein(a). This consolidated my interest in Metabolic Medicine in general, in cholesterol and lipoprotein metabolism in particular, and in how we can treat lipids to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. In addition to my role as a Consultant Physician in Acute and Metabolic Medicine I have previously served as Clinical Director of Acute Medicine, and then of Cardiovascular-Metabolic Medicine and I currently Chair the Clinical Ethics Advisory Group at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
