We are excited to announce the date for our first in-person event for the Thornely Society since 2019!

Please join us in London on Thursday 25 April 2024 for the Thornely Society Dinner and Talk. The event will take place at Bird & Bird LLP, 12 New Fetter Lane, London EC4A 1JP, and we are incredibly grateful to alumnus Samrad Nazer (1997, Law) for hosting.

The Thornely Society is open to all Sidney alumni who read either read Law, work in the legal profession, or who have since qualified as lawyers, and provides an opportunity for networking, and to maintain and develop links with both your fellow alumni, and the College.

Sidney has a long tradition of excellence in the teaching of Law, which is inextricably linked with John Thornely: the first lawyer to be elected a Fellow of Sidney, whose long and distinguished career at Sidney lasted for over 50 years. Donations to the Thornely Funds have enabled the College to support two Thornely Law Fellows and offer an extraordinary range of financial support to its Law students - from bursaries and prizes through to travel awards and support for professional work.

9.00pm   After dinner talk, Dame Sarah Falk, DBE (1980, Law)
